At Alan Day, we believe actions speak louder than words, that’s why we have been supporting the Watford Women’s Centre.
Although there is limited official data so far on the impact of lockdown on domestic abuse, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) report that in mid-May 2020, there was a 12% increase in the number of domestic abuse cases referred to victim support. Between April and June 2020, there was a 65% increase in calls to the National Domestic Abuse Helpline.
To continue helping women in the local area, they are in the final straight of fundraising and urgently need to raise the final £5,000 of their £77,000 target to refurbish the Centre. This would enable the charity to create a welcoming reception area and comfortable, sound-proofed counselling rooms. Completion of the works will ensure a safe and improved working environment for our staff and an enhanced experience for clients, as well as enabling them to meet the increased demand for counselling and domestic abuse support services.
By helping us rebuild Watford Women's Centre, you will be helping many women rebuild their lives.
